Goals and Beliefs
- Some people have the ability to sing, write, and use other methods to praise God. I have found art to be a joyful expression of His creation, and therefore hope to glorify God through the work of our hands.
- A main goal is to use only natural and re-purposed materials, so that nothing goes to waste! This includes pallets businesses and individuals normally throw out, tanning unwanted deer hides and harvesting sinew/hooves/bone for crafting, and using scraps from our rough cut milled lumber.
- Using these types of materials also means that each piece is unique, and no creation is ever the same. In a technology-dependent society where items are mass produced to perfection, these individual works show how important it is to me to make things by hand.
- I never use stencils- anything I have painted or wood-burned was hand drawn initially by looking at a reference photo, or from the top of my head. As I have said above, I really find it meaningful to have nothing be the same.
- We firmly believe respect for God's creation includes animals- which is why we enjoy tanning furs and using every part possible of the animal. From tanned hides, to turkey fan mounts, deer hooves, and even hand shaped bone needles- it is important to us to craft things with parts normally disposed of.
